Volunteering with UCME
As a volunteer at UCME you will participate in a variety of diving and land based research activities currently being conducted at the centre. You will be given specific marine science training especially designed to teach you the skills you'll require to help collect important data sets.
Whilst at the centre you will help scientists complete dive surveys to evaluate the condition of coral reefs and collect essential data on coral cover, fish density and invertebrate abundance. You'll also participate in fisheries monitoring, based on a small cay within the local fishing community, help assess reef fish spawning aggregation sites on off shore banks and work with the community on education and awareness initiatives assisting biologists on a wide range of projects both above and below the waves.
